Impact Investing

In order to see Social Enterprise projects thrive, we need to do the hard work of authentically and genuinely connecting capital to the projects that most need it. We have a four pronged approach to this work: inspire a new culture of investing, curate new capital, educate the ecosystem on the available tools, and connect projects to capital in a unique way. Learn more below about what this looks like for us.

Inspiring a new Culture of investing

Traditionally, we have seen two challenges to Impact Investing. The projects that need capital don’t have the high net worth network or expertise to raise capital and the traditional venture capital due diligence theory doesn’t completely fit in a Social Enterprise profitability model. The exit strategies are non-traditional, the tools are unique, and the profits aren’t only intended for wealth building. Our team works to build relationships on both sides of this equation and to help to create an ecosystem that is collaborative and successful in this work.

Educate the ecosystem On the available Impact Investment Tools

There is a plethora of tools that individuals can use to deploy capital to the projects they want to support. Through our podcast, one-on-one conversations, and other opportunities, we are working to share these models and tools in order to help connect the dots from projects to capital.

We believe that there is currently a large portion of potential capital on the sidelines. There are three reasons we believe this is true.

  1. There is a low percentage of individuals that are familiar with the idea of social enterprise.

  2. Many individuals have not connected the dots of their investment portfolio and their philanthropic endeavors.

  3. We need more education around the tools that individuals can use to become investors.

We are committed to doing the work of education in these areas to mobilize infinitely more capital than we thought imaginable.

Connecting Projects & Capital

Raising capital and investing in projects is an incredibly joyful and intimate process. We believe there are a few key ways to preserve the integrity of the process and make it valuable for both the project and the investor.

  • Create an Equitable System - We want the white westerner and the non-westerner to have the same opportunity for obtaining capital.

  • An Authentic Process - Investors and Philanthropic Donors are inundated with opportunities and asks. We want to see a system where deep, genuine, authentic connections are made based on the heart and business desires of both parties.

  • Clear & Realistic Expectations: We want to help educate founders on the ins and outs of raising capital and help them navigate what their true non-negotiable terms are for the process. This will help to create clear and realistic expectations for both parties and allow for a true, collaborative partnership for the future.

Feast Over Famine is curating a network of investors, tools, and projects to facilitate these connections in unique ways.
